His Excellency, Mr. Tenzin Lekphell, Secretary General of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) met with Hon\u2019ble Minister for Ministry of Home and Cultural Affairs, Lyonpo Ugyen Dorji today.<\/p>\n

The meeting discussed on the BIMSTEC areas of cooperation and particularly on the establishment of BIMSTEC Cultural Industry Observatory in Bhutan as per the agreement of the First BIMSTEC Ministerial Meeting on Culture held at Paro in May, 2006. BIMSTEC Secretariat has been working closely with the MoHCA to establish the center at the earliest possible.<\/p>\n

The Secretary General assumed his office on November 6, 2020. He is the third Secretary General of BIMSTEC and currently in the country as a part of his courtesy visits to the member states. He is accompanied by Mr. Md Mosharaf Hossain and Ms. Chhimmy Pem, Directors of the BIMSTEC Secretariat.<\/p>\n
