Mr. Gaurav Ray, the newly appointed Resident Coordinator of the United Nations (UN) to Bhutan, paid a courtesy call on the Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) today, 16 January, 2026.

The Hon’ble Minister extended a warm felicitation to the new UN Resident Coordinator for his appointment to the current post and thanked him for taking out time visit the ministry. In addition, the Hon’ble Minister highlighted important roles that the UN system has played a range of pivotal roles in Bhutan, with contributions including sustainable socio-economic development, etc., over the past decades since Bhutan joined the UN in 1971.
Extending his deep gratitude and happiness for the opportunity to pay courtesy call on the Hon’ble Minister, Mr. Gaurav Ray shared that the UN Office and his team would be ready and happy to extend all possible support to the ministry of home affairs and the Royal Government of Bhutan.
Besides, the Hon’ble Minister and the UN Resident Coordinator discussed a wide range of potential areas of future cooperation and collaboration, spanning local governance, preservation and promotion Bhutan’s rich culture and traditional heritage, disaster management, capacity development of agencies under the MoHA, strengthening local governance, and the 10X priorities, strategies and plans, amongst others, that would directly contribute towards achieving the national goal of building the high GNH socio-economic development in the next decades.
The parties agreed in principle to jointly identify potential areas of collaboration and partnership that the MoHA and the UN agencies could undertake in the near future.
