The Ministry of Home Affairs has noted a message currently circulating on various social media platforms warning the public about individuals allegedly impersonating Home Affairs Officers.
At the outset, the Ministry sincerely appreciates the individual who shared the message with the intention of protecting the public. However, the Ministry wishes to clarify that the Department of Civil Registration and Census has not initiated or authorised any door-to-door exercise involving the verification of identity cards, collection of fingerprints, photographs, or any other census-related biometric data.
While the circulating message is not based on any verified initiative of the Ministry, it serves as an important reminder for the public to remain vigilant against individuals who may falsely claim to represent government agencies.
The Ministry therefore advises all members of the public to:
- Refrain from providing personal information or biometric data to unknown individuals claiming to be government officials.
- Immediately report any suspicious activity to the Royal Bhutan Police or the relevant government agency for verification.
The Ministry requests everyone to share this clarification through their respective networks to prevent unnecessary public concern while encouraging continued vigilance against fraud and impersonation.
